Some toddlers blow up over tiny frustrations because they want control but do not know how to ask for it. Giving small control early in the day reduces blowups later.

Try this:

  • Offer two choices at decision points.

  • Keep the options narrow and equal.

  • Hold the limit no matter which choice they pick.

Do you want the red cup or the blue cup. Do you want to walk or be carried to the car. These micro-choices lower resistance without giving up the boundary. The toddler feels heard. You stay in charge.
