Bath time for toddlers can be absolute chaos when they resists or cry. This phase often tends to kick in at the 18 month to 2 years mark and it's not uncommon for it to be caused by some pretty legit fears - like the water being too cold, or maybe a past experience where they got a surprise splash of water in a spot that wasn't exactly pleasant.
To make bath time a bit more bearable, here are some tricks that might help ease their worries:
Let them get to know their bath toys a bit better before actually getting in the tub. Just let them play around with them on the floor, and gradually introduce a bit of water as they start to get more comfortable with it.
Give 'em a few simple choices to make during bath time, like which toys they want to play with or what family member they want to join them in the tub.
Bathing with a sibling can be a real winner here - having another kid in the tub can really help them feel more at ease.
Protect their eyes with goggles or a visor, so splashes feel less overwhelming.
Take it slow and let them set the pace. You’ll likely see them feel safe again - and maybe even start to enjoy bath time.
